So i have been learning and exploring Houdini for quite some time now andi watched a fair share of tuts and classes online, but the best one hands down is a new class called Introduction to FX using Houdini taught by Saber Jlassi. Now, a disclaimer, the class is called an "introduction", but what it really is a mid to advance class showing you the modern workflows for various types of simulations and rendering techniques. Saber does go through the basic but the bar raises quickly and the class shifts to a more advance level. AND ITS AWESOME !
I WOULD ALMOST SAY IT'S A GAME CHANGING CLASS for houdini artist wanting to break into more advance waters. SABER SHOWED ME SO MANY NEW things that i quite honestly didin't know AND I BELIEVE THAT AFTER THIS CLASS, I WILL TRULY BE ARMED WITH ENOUGH AMOUNT OF HOUDINI KNOWLEDGE THAT I WILL LAND Me A FIRST SERIOUS VFX JOB in the industry.
And so could you !
Seriously ! the amount of content is unbelievable, and while the class is 8 weeks long, you will surely need a little more time to digest all the new information.
at least i know i will.
every week we have a live Q&A, WHICH IN ITSELF SHOULD be another paid class since Saber shows so many new effcts that were not even in the class description. its just amazing.
now the price, it's at $699, and for some i know that's a bit much. But, i cannot stress enough how much information you will get from this. and Saber is an amazing teacher that will help you along the way. i have been considering enrolling in various houdini schools or programs that offer you from a week to a year of training time with a full time professor. and that sounds nice and all . but guess what, some of the classes even go up to 41$k of moneys !. 41.000 $ !!! that's completely bonkers if you ask me, and i bet your showreel will look better after you finish Saber's class than if you finish any other so called "houdini introduction" class that will dry your or your parents wallet.
so here i am sharing a little sneak peak at what awaits you if you decide to embark on this adventure
ps. the modeling of the arena is also learned in the class
